Being Human

What does it mean to be 'Human'?
Jesus said each of us is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” essentially, our whole beings. He also said that we are to love “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Love God and love others.
Your soul combines your will, (what you choose to do), with your mind (what you think about and how you respond emotionally) and your body (your physical being). We relate to others through our bodies. We have a responsibility in how we relate to others. We have a responsibility with what we do with our bodies. In this series we will look at how we honour God with our bodies. (1 Cor 6:20)

Part 1: What you do
with your body matters Your body is your kingdom – it’s where you alone are in charge. You use to body to do almost everything, and everything that you do with it is your responsibility. Every input, picture or mouthful; every word or signal; every action is your choice.
What are you doing with your body, are you honouring God by doing it? |
Part 2: Boy meets girl…
Relationships don't usually follow the fairytale pattern. In fact, they require quite a lot of effort! The myths that we believe about relationships will affect how we go about having and maintaining them. What we really need is a Bible-centered standpoint by which we can have healthy relationships, and in his letter to the Corinthians, Paul gave us just that.

Part 3: Sexual intimacy in marriage
There's more to marriage than just sexual intimacy. Further, there's more to sexual intimacy than just physical contact; there is a spiritual side to things too. God designed sex to be the joining of one soul, through the body, to another, and that changes everything.
Join Nick and Vicki as they look at the role sex plays in a healthy marriage, and share some practical, biblical advice on cultivating intimacy in marriage. |
Part 4: Family
We are all shaped by our families. Our idea of the 'ideal' family usually does not match the reality of our own family. So what does healthy family life look like? How do we love God and love our (dysfunctional) families?
In this talk Mark Harbour asks, "How can we live healthy family lives?", looks at some key passages in the bible that help us see what God thinks about family and asks a question that just might revolutionise your family life... |
Part 5: Addiction
Bastille sing, "There's a hole in my soul, I can't fill it. There's a whole in my soul, can you fill it?" *. All of us have an emptiness inside that we try to fill with something or someone that will numb the pain or hide the shame. In this talk Nick, explores the fact that deep down we are all addicts and how God has made a way for us to find real freedom and a way to fill the emptiness.

Church is first and foremost a gathering of people with a purpose. Church is a community. At Coventry Vineyard, we want to be real people living real life. We want to understand what it means to belong to one another, and be devoted to one another in love. (Romans 12:10).
