BIG Week (What we did: 15-21 May 2017)
We are a church that actively go out to our neighbourhoods and communities to express love in practical ways. Each term our Life groups go out and serve Coventry. Once a year we take this up a gear by focussing our efforts into one amazing week, where we join together to make a bigger impact.
You and I are invited to become more like Jesus and this involves serving. Serving is the way and life of the Kingdom. So this is why you will find us out on the streets, cleaning up litter; in shops, cleaning toilets; in neighbours gardens, digging borders, weeding or laying turf; in the park, giving out cold drinks on hot days.
Here are some of the things we did last summer:
Expressing love in practical ways
Healing on the Streets (Monday 15/5)
Can you pray? Do you want to see lives changed? If yes, then join us. We will meet at 4 Priory Row to set up, then go into Coventry with people from lots of other churches to pray for anyone who wants it.
Youth- Litter Picking (Monday 15/5)
The youth had a fantastic time litter picking in April, so are doing it again in Naul's Mill Park. This is open to all secondary and year 6 age children.
Paying for Hospital Parking (Tuesday 16/5)
Paying towards the parking for those who are visiting the hospital. Last year, many of those visiting ill friends and relatives were overwhelmed at this simple act of kindness, and some wanted prayer for those they were visiting.
Litter Picking (Wednesday 17/5)
A group will be litter picking in Naul's Park, Coventry. Last year, local residents and park users said how much they appreciated the work they put in to make it a better place. Meeting at 1 Mill Street at 6:30pm. All equipment will be provided- just come in old clothes. The team will go for dinner/drinks after.
Refugee Lunch (Saturday 20/5)
Help cook and serve food for footballers from the mens football group (refugees and church people).
Godiva Festival- helping on charity stall (8-9 July)
Two days at the Godiva festival- Last year we did face painting, giving out free water and goodies, badge making, doing splat the rat and generally providing a great family atmosphere, all for free! There were big queues and many families who so appreciated free activities for their children. On Sunday 9th July we will be having a picnic together as well.
