WildFire"When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks…" Acts 2:1-4 (The Message)
What if we, as a church community, decided to develop a culture of transformation, where we humbly prayed "Come Holy Spirit" and then co-operated with the Spirit of God as He equipped us for mission? |
1. On a mission with the supernatural Jesus (Pentecost 2014)
There was something surprisingly normal and natural about Jesus. He was fully human, and yet he did things that were beyond scientific reasoning or the laws of natural. There was something unnervingly supernatural about Jesus. He was fully God. Jesus did things that showed people what the Kingdom of God was like. The Holy Spirit has been given to equip and empower God’s people to continue the mission of Jesus and communicate the message of Jesus. What does this power look like? |
2. Praying for healing
So we have all this power... but why does it sometimes feel like we're on the losing team? Why do we find ourselves in pain, illness or discomfort in the first place? Does healing even happen now? Our answer is yes - healing does happen now. We just need to be prepared to have a go! In this inspiring talk, Vicki describes a whole new approach to prayer for healing, tackling some of the difficult questions that arise on the way. |
3. Hearing from God
Do you ever just stop, turn off the headphones, TV or phone and just listen to God? Do you think He would ever say anything to you? For us in the Vineyard, prophesy and hearing from God are natural things that we expect to happen. We believe that God speaks to us in our everyday lives... but exactly how and why does He do that? 5. Baptism in the Spirit
If you are a follower of Jesus, you have God on your side and the Holy Spirit right there with you - the mighty power of God following you round everywhere that you go. Jesus left us the Holy Spirit to help us continue His work. But what exactly does it mean to be 'baptised in the Holy Spirit', and it is really that important? |
4. Speaking in tongues
Church can be weird, let's face it. There are all sorts of things that happen, which even to us in the church can feel pretty strange, and the strangest of them all has to be speaking in tongues. Continuing to bring the church's awkward questions to light, Nick himself asks: what are these 'tongues' for? How do they work? Do we want them, and how do we get them? 6. Fire on the move
For this final session, we searched Coventry Vineyard for exciting stories of the Holy Spirit at work - and we didn't have to search for long! Full of incredible encouraging moments and stories, listen to our encouraging finale below. |
Fathers Day
Father's day can be a wonderful celebration. But it can also be a time of pain. Our relationships with our fathers should be so very valuable, but often they're not what they could and should be.
This Fathers Day, Nick looks at how our relationships with our fathers can be modelled on our heavenly father, the greatest gift giver of all time, and how showing others what our heavenly Father is like we can be the much-needed gift the people around us need. |
“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile.
Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” -Jeremiah 29:7 What if we measured the success of a church by how the people live out their faith in their community. What if success sounded like stories of the Kingdom? We often ask, "is the city of coventry itself changing because the church in coventry is impacting and transforming the city?" Are lives changed, people transformed and hope found? In this series we look at how our church is called to make a difference in our city and communicate the good news of Jesus to our friends and neighbours and work colleagues. |
Your soul combines your will (what you choose to do), with your mind (what you think about and how you respond emotionally) and your body (your physical being).
We have a responsibility with what we do with our bodies. In this series we will look at how we honour God with our bodies. |
Life is a challenge. What challenges will you face in 2014? What is the one thing that you would like to accomplish this year? Is there a habit, a relationship or situation that needs your attention?
Following Jesus is a challenge. It's not an easy option. In this four part series we will confront our fears, deal with opposition and persevere as we "run the race" set before us. Are you up for the challenge? |
