ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS
Who is Jesus? Who is Jesus to you? Throughout the four gospels there are accounts of people who encountered Jesus. This Summer we will be looking at some of these encounters and asking what does it mean to encounter him personally. As we reach out to Jesus, we find that he has already reached out to us. As we encounter Jesus, we find that our lives take on a new purpose and a new meaning. Will you encounter Jesus this summer? |
1. Because you say so, I will...
In this talk Nick looks at how Simon Peter encountered Jesus (Luke 5:1-11). At the beginning of Jesus ministry he asks a lot of Simon. How did Simon respond? How do we respond to Jesus when he asks us to "put out into deeper water"? We have a choice as to whether we will trust and obey him, ignore him or ask him to leave us alone. |
2. God is in control
When hard times come and your world is shaken, it’s very easy to forget the big picture, and in doing so, forget that God is in control. Whether you see Him there or not, God is right there by your side and He has full control over your situation. |
3. An encounter that didn't fall short
When Jesus is invited in, He brings change with Him. This encounter, where Jesus invites Himself over, is no different. |
4. An invitation to live like Jesus
In church we are constantly encouraged to become more like Jesus. What exactly does this mean, when we're many thousands of miles and thousands of years from the times and places that Jesus walked on Earth? |
5. Life at the Centre of the Kingdom
Jesus encouraged little children to encounter him. He also stated that unless we adults become like little children we will not inherit or fully encounter the kingdom. What does this mean? In this talk Ros Ginn challenges us to live life at the centre of the kingdom as we encounter Jesus. |

SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE
The book of Psalms is the prayer book of the Bible. Found in the Old Testament, the Psalms are a collection of 150 songs drawn from the experience of life. Through good times and bad, trouble and turmoil or celebration and contentment, the Psalms give voice to the cries of our hearts. Forget any idea that these are sweet or cute songs, these are not prayers for 'nice people' but personal, authentic and often brutally honest. These songs are prayers which enable us to bring everything in our lives before a God who loves us. Through this series our hope is that as a church we will develop a deeper life of prayer and allow our hearts to sing "Songs in the Key of Life". |
