Community Projects

Ideas already done in our Big Week or by Life Groups 
1. Handing out cookies or gingerbread men at Jaguar Land Rover.
2. Gardening at Youell Court nursing home in Binley
3. Litter picking at local park/woods
4. Tea and homemade cakes party to raise money for a local charity (we have done Coventry MIND and Zoe's place).
5. Moving furniture for Carriers of Hope charity
6. Getting involved in Healing on the streets on a Monday or Saturday lunch time (12-1:15)- contact Vicki Sutton on [email protected] for more info on this. 
7. Handing out Eaton mess at the memorial park
8. Paying for parking at the hospital, or handing out cookies to staff-Coventry Vineyard has printed card specially for this project.
9. Assisting CAP clients with shopping, meals, gardening etc. (Speak to Ian Burton to get involved with this).
10. Street parties (for the queen's birthday, bonfire night, Christmas carols, New Year's eve, etc)
Please remember that Coventry Vineyard has generic ready printed cards for any give aways, that have the church details on one side, and the words: "This is a small way to say God loves you. We hope it brightens up your day." on the other side. You can arrange to pick some of these up in advance for your project.
Other ideas (many of which have been done in the past):
  1. Comic relief bake off
  2. Car washing
  3. Carol singing (at supermarket or hospital - need permission in advance)
  4. Litter picking in local streets
  5. Free water after football match
  6. Soup Kitchen
  7. Gardening (& follow up after)
  8. Easter egg/valentine flowers/mince pie/Hot Cross buns give away
  9. Sweeping up and clearing leaves
  10. Prophesy/healing at psychic fair
  11. Volunteering at Coombe country park
  12. Thanks gifts to local businesses
  13. Coffee/tea at local football matches
  14. Sanding and painting garage doors
  15. Cakes for allotment growers
  16. Clearing snowy paths
  17. Presents for homeless/disadvantaged people at christmas or easter
  18. Have neighbours round for christmas drinks and snacks or BBQ
  19. Playing board games/ Painting fingernails at old peoples homes
  20. Lawn mowing for neighbours
  21. Christmas gift wrapping
  22. Community dinner
  23. Cookies for all your neighbours
  24. Face painting
  25. Balloon modelling
  26. Volunteering to help at a festival (such as Spon festival etc)
  27. Helping Sue Sampson with carriers of hope/circle of friends (including ‘christmas in a bag’)
  28. ‘The big lunch’
  29. Helping families from the refugee centre
These are not comprehensive lists, and I would love to hear other ideas you have (so I can add them to the list to help other leaders). Remember that some of these ideas need permission or planning, so it is a good idea to start organising them now!
